Job description
This position is responsible for assisting the Financial Operations Coordinator in the day-to-day financial/accounting functions of the Authority. This position insures that proper accounting procedures and policies and practices are used in recording all financial transactions. This position is responsible for the accounts payable and payroll systems of the Authority, and tracking various statistical information such as ridership, hours, and miles.

1. Responsible for handling all aspects of the Authority’s payroll including but not limited to deduction management, transmittal/filings of federal/state/local forms and associated recordkeeping, time entry, payroll processing, tax file maintenance and paycheck distribution. These aspects will be handled using PayTime.

2. Coordinates with HR for timekeeping and payroll sheets for all employees.

3. Responsible for the preparation of all accounts payable including check writing and recordkeeping.

4. Maintains central A/P filing system for Accounting Department.

5. Ensure purchasing documents are processed efficiently and within Authority policy requirements.

6. Handles verification and payment processing for mileage reimbursement under the Medical Assistance Transportation Program.

7. Tracks various service statistics including miles, hours, and ridership. Prepares various reports for the Board of Directors and Senior Management staff.

8. Cash counting and handling of fares/co-pays for services provided.

9. Support Director of Finance and Administration with special projects and workflow process improvements.

10. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work, including processing payroll; OR an associate degree in accounting or business administration.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

1. Advanced computer stills in MS Office including MS Word and Excel.

2. Proven knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

3. Strong written and oral communication skills.

4. High attention to detail and accuracy.

5. Ability to multi-task.

6. Well-organized.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires the use of a calculator and computer.
