About the Institution:
Georgia Military College (GMC) is an accredited public-independent liberal arts college with twelve community college campuses throughout the state of Georgia, a Global Online College, and the main campus in Milledgeville serving both residential cadets and non-cadet/non-residential commuter students and intercollegiate athletes. GMC is a federally recognized Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) with 56% of the student body being minority students. A primary focus of Georgia Military College is awarding Associate Degrees and preparing students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. A second focus is to provide pathways for students to attain their four-year Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Degree. About the Role:
The instructor will provide instruction in at least one of these areas: health, wellness, physical education, and/or kinesiology. All instruction will be conducted remotely primarily in an asynchronous format.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate-level physical education and wellness-related courses in an online environment according to the standards set forth by the College.
- Provide critical thinking-based instruction centered on the student learning outcomes of the course.
- Instruct course(s) throughout the week including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Develop and/or locate resources that will aid in student learning.
- Maintain an appropriate scholarly or professional development activity and keep up to date with developments in the field as necessary to carry out the duties of the position.
- Instruct courses using both asynchronous and synchronous strategies including but not limited to scheduling at least three (3) live, online lectures.
- Perform any and all other position-related duties as required by the institution.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicant must hold a minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours or 30 quarter hours in Health and Physical Education, Health Education, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Leisure and Outdoor Recreation. Candidates with an advanced degree(s) in Kinesiology will receive preferences for this position.
- 1+ years of documented online teaching experience.
- Experience working with Moodle LMS.
- Demonstrable experience developing resources to aid in student learning in the online environment.
- Candidates must have a reliable and consistent internet connection.
- Ownership of a modern PC or Mac running either Windows, macOS, or Linux with at least one connected microphone and video-recording camera.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. with at least 18 graduate semester hours or 30 quarter hours in Health and Physical Education, Health Education, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Leisure and Outdoor Recreation. Candidates with an advanced degree(s) in Kinesiology will receive preferences for this position.
- Demonstrable experience in developing online courses in the subject areas listed above.
- Documented experience working with diverse and non-traditional learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Work Environment:
- The duties of the position will be conducted 100% online.
- Contracts are for 8 weeks; renewable upon the availability of classes and satisfactory job performance.
- Adjunct faculty will be required to attend regular faculty meetings via a virtual environment.

- Master's degree

- Teaching experience
- Proficient technological skills, including Microsoft Office

- 1+ years of relevant teaching experience
