This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

This position is assigned to and located at the South Central Region Maintenance Yard in Asheboro, NC.

The primary purpose of this position is to independently perform a variety of clerical tasks associated with the administration and operation of the maintenance yard.

  • These include but are not limited to:
  • processing mail,
  • receiving and directing requests for the services performed by the maintenance staff and in coordination with the main yard in Asheboro;
  • entering and monitoring requisitions and usage orders on the state accounting system,
  • updating supervisor and yard management on status of materials and equipment,
  • data entry into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (MMS)
  • providing reports generation for maintenance work orders,
  • reconciliation of time and materials to work purchase orders,
  • reconciling P-Card purchases,
  • receive and direct telephone inquiries and visitors to the appropriate person,
  • track and request office equipment service contracts as required,
  • track and monitor asset inventory assigned to the office,
  • responsible for checking time reports and entering data in BEACON;
  • ensure accuracy and enter vehicle mileage logs into Vehicle Management System(VMS),
  • ensure accuracy using the North Carolina Accounting System (NCAS).

  • maintain effective working relationship with others;
  • updating and maintaining reference publications and manuals utilized by the maintenance staff and assist with other office functions as directed by supervisor.

Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase/decrease MAY result.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the Description of Work section of their application that they possess ALL of the following were applicable:

Proven experience with professional office methods, procedures, and related computer programs (to include communicating clearly with others on the telephone and presenting information clearly and concisely in oral and written form).

  • Documented skills and the capability to operate office equipment such as copier, personal computer, fax machine, scanner, calculator, etc.
  • Documented knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Documented proficiency entering and retrieving data from database programs.
  • Proven aptitude to read, comprehend and follow written policies, procedures and verbal instructions.
  • Documented experience using the North Carolina Accounting System (NCAS).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience;
-OR-
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,788.00 - $62,628.00 per year
