The Center for Wellness Promotion (CWP) operates from a public health model and utilizes prevention and health promotion strategies to empower students to make informed decisions about their personal health and wellbeing. Our team of multidisciplinary professionals addresses issues such as alcohol use, drug use, recovery from substance use disorders, sexual health, sexual and relationship violence, and a variety of other wellness topics that affect college students.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership in the continuing development and implementation of a holistic campus health and wellbeing initiative. This position will be responsible for coordinating a peer health education program and providing departmental leadership on assessment and evaluation initiatives.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
Develop and coordinate a collegiate peer health education program; provide department-level leadership on assessment and evaluation activities.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Master’s or advanced degree required.
- Most relevant disciplines include public health, health promotion, health education, higher education leadership and/or student development, counseling, and social work.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Five or more years of professional health education experience in the higher education setting.
- Experience coordinating broad-based holistic campus health initiatives (e.g., Healthy Campus initiatives or similar).
- In-depth knowledge of, and/or experience with, the collective impact framework.
- Experience coordinating a collegiate peer health education program.
- Experience with program assessment and evaluation.
- Experience supervising professional and student staff.
Necessary Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Certifications/Licenses
- Certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), or ability and intent to be certified within the first year of employment.
