DETAILS:
- SHIFT: Daily schedules change based on sports season, however typical time frames would be from 2:30 pm to 7:30/8 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday game coverage (Adjusted on school and season coverage) - Most big holidays are free and school breaks are light with coverage
- COMPENSATION RANGE: $24.43/hr - $34.21/hr

JOB SUMMARY:
The Athletic Trainer provides oversight and management of care of injuries to a physically active person. One provides emergency care, first aid, development of injury and illness prevention programs, initial assessment, diagnosis of injury, therapeutic modalities, and providing appropriate prevention and devices for the physically active person. This also includes providing appropriate management and assessment of treatment rehabilitation and recondition of the physically active person. Assesses, treats, and rehabilitates athletic injuries under the advice, consent, and prescription of a physician. Requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training; Master’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Requires a minimum of two to four years’ experience related to athletic training.
- Incumbent must be able to work under the guidelines and adhere to Board of Certification Standards of Professional Practice.
- Demonstrated experience with athletic training program planning, and development.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge Career Concepts: Knowledge of safe exercise practices.
- Knowledge Career Concepts: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
- Knowledge Operations: Knowledge of and adheres to hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
- Professional Abilities: Observe, compare and monitor data and people’s behavior to determine compliance with prescribed standards.
- Interpersonal Skills: Establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills.
- Technology Skills: Computer usage.
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION (one or more of the following):
- Board Certified Athletic Trainer
- Current AHA BLS-HCP certificate
- Exercise Physiology/ Kinesiology
- American Council of Exercise (ACE)
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge:
- Applies knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology, counseling techniques and the use of educational programs, resources and technology.
- Applies his/her understanding of regulatory agency guidelines for Certified Athletic Training.
Athletic Training:
- Provide outpatient athletic training on campus to high school student athletes.
- Support student-athletes within scope of practice and utilize medical director and outside resources when appropriate.
- Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games.
- Works independently with initiative while collaborating with the high school teams.
- Assist the Athletic Director as requested within the scope and role of a Certified Athletic Trainer.
Education:
- Provide injury/illness prevention education, first aid, assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation training, and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairments, functional limitations and disabilities.
- Educates participants to self-monitor exercise per protocols.
Interaction:
- Collaborate with physician/health care professional to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
- Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents.
- Notifies participant’s physicians of initial goals and updates progress, if applicable
