As AHEC Infrastructure Support Administrator, this position will be responsible for the following:
Provide technical support services and administration/maintenance of the infrastructure used at the core of the Auraria Higher Education Center's Information Technology program. Maintain and service all infrastructure and systems related to the Cisco Networking environment (LAN,WAN, Wireless, Firewall, Routers, Switches and VPN), VmWare ESX hosts, HPE Nimble Storage Area Network (SAN), 90(+) Windows and Linux Servers (Virtual and Physical), Campus Fiber/Copper Network across 40(+) buildings, Avigilon Campus Camera System and 275(+) Desktops running Windows and Mac Operating Systems, and agency application software products as assigned in a manner that minimizes downtime and follows all industry standard best practices. Serves as a liaison between all internal agency customers, system vendors and IT Department for various projects including, but not limited to, the implementation of software, configuration changes/enhancements, patches/bug fixes, upgrades and customizations.
Essential Job Duties:
- Implements and monitors data traffic flow and security scheme for all Network, Server, SAN, VmWare and Desktop components of the agency's infrastructure .
- Performs ongoing maintenance and improvements related to the Cisco Networking environment, Windows/Linux servers, HPE Nimble SAN, Campus Fiber/Copper network distribution within the agency infrastructure.
- Performs monthly updates to ensure all agency infrastructure is consistently "patched" and kept up to date with the latest releases to mitigate known security vulnerabilities.
- Applies SSL Certificates obtained from a Trusted Certificate Authority (DigiCert) and ensures timely installation (prior to certificate expiration) on all related agency servers, network devices and email appliances.
- Assists in the programing/configuring of routers, switches and firewalls for the Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC) of all computers and network devices across the Agency's Departments.
- Assignment of appropriate VLan's used throughout the agency for (PCI, CJIS, Printing, Vendors and General AHEC usage).
- 24/7 monitoring of network traffic, agency infrastructure and server room environmental alarms and warnings to prevent catastrophic failures.
- RAVE emergency notification system support and coordination of periodic testing.
- Maintains the agency's O365 platform running in a hybrid environment.
- Available for planned outages/upgrades and emergency response to critical situations during off hours as necessary.
- Supports the Avigilon campus camera system operation and support duties.
- Monitors and recommends maintenance/support contract renewals for Servers, SAN and network components.
This position is responsible for the daily operation, ongoing maintenance and successful completion of projects related to the agency's IT Infrastructure. Examples include the configuration and expansion of Agency network (wired and wireless), isolation of network traffic to meet security requirements of campus police and credit card traffic, support of the agency's virtualization infrastructure (VMware, ESX Hosts, etc.) and data storage infrastructure (SAN, Veeam Backups) as well as Campus video camera environment and O365 platform, etc.
Additional Duties: Perform such other duties as are assigned from time-to-time by the direct supervisor and members of the AHEC leadership team.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or an experience substitution on a year-for-year basis.
- Current working knowledge of Cisco network components such as firewalls, switches, wireless controllers, Wireless Access Points, and routers.
- Current working knowledge of Windows desktop and server operation systems, Vmware virtualization operating systems, Veeam data backup software, and HP Storage Area Network hardware and software.
- Current working knowledge of Avigilon Video camera hardware and software.
- Current working knowledge of Agency System Applications.
- Current working knowledge of Microsoft O365 platform.
- Experience with technology used at Auraria Higher Education Center.
Preferred qualifications:
- The ability to manage and organize multiple tasks and priorities, for multiple systems simultaneously.
- Must be customer service driven and have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate with a diverse user audience and customer base.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are also required.
- Must have the ability to communicate with personnel from all area of the organization to include IT technologists, end users, management, vendors, and Customers (CCD, MSU Denver and UC Denver).
- Must have working knowledge of technology used at AHEC to include but not limited to application software, Cisco network firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless controllers, Windows Operations Systems (desktop and server) HP Storage Area Network, Microsoft O365 and the ability to implement technological solutions utilizing these technologies.
