We're looking for our next Career & Life Coach for our Miami Valley Urban League (MVUL) location in Dayton, OH! This role is responsible for promoting the successful employment of participants (Clients) through regular contact and establishing a job search plan, assessing the participants’ skills, education, work history, availability, and transportation needs. This includes a level of case management that will provide additional supportive services as needed through a holistic barrier removal approach.
Job Responsibilities:
· Recruitment of participants for workforce programs
· Aids participants in understanding their vocational career choices.
· Assist in the job development for participants on assigned case load
· Enter all case notes and client information as required by department and program into the ETO and/or designated database.
· Maintain daily electronic files/records, logs and tracking to ensure current and organized activity for timely follow-up of direct participant services
· Ensure participants have updated and job relevant resumes
· Provide coaching to clients individually or in groups to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for sustained employment and job retention.
· Provide the highest level of customer service to ensure that participants feel valued and model behaviors participants can emulate.
· Reciprocal contact with participants (minimally once per month) utilizing a variety of methods not limited to; in-person, phone, social media, mail, family/co-worker.
· Provide retention support services to participants and employers.
· Report on 30, 60, 90 day and 12-month retention.
· Provide intervention, when necessary and appropriate, to prevent a participant’s job loss or increase chances of promotion.
· Provide appropriate program reports promptly.
· Represent the Urban League in local community, civic, and social organization outreach events.
· Perform other agency-related projects and duties as assigned.
· Attending community outreach events as scheduled by the department manager and/or The MVUL organization.
Job Qualifications:
· Foundational computer skills (G Suite, Office 365, One Note)
· Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word)
· Intermediate knowledge of Zoom
· Fundamental belief in the resiliency of people combined with passion for the vision and mission of Urban League.
· Coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously.
· 2-3 years of experience in job coaching, business development, or a related field.
· Knowledge of the businesses and industries within the Dayton/Montgomery County area.
· Knowledge of effective procedures in locating job sites and placing applicants in jobs.
· Knowledge of private, local, state, and federal agencies involved in manpower development programs and job placement.
· Comfort in working in the business community, and well as with a disadvantaged population.
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining high quality.
· Ability to maintain and produce accurate, timely records and reports.
· Ability to meet and communicate effectively with employers and clients.
· Make presentations to clients/employers on job seeking skills and readiness of program participants.
· Availability to work a minimum of one (1) evening night once a week
· Reliable transportation to and from the office including all work-related functions offsite.
