Job description

The Director of Clinical Research is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing Clinical Research initiatives.

This position reports directly to the practice President & CEO.

Responsibilities of the Director of Clinical Research

• Maintain a thorough understanding of the scientific / medical considerations of the ophthalmology area and the investigational drugs
• Maintain a thorough understanding of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs)
• Maintain relationships with medical, scientific, and regulatory contacts
• Liaison with sponsoring pharmaceutical companies on an ongoing basis
• Resume all study activity in the event of absent personnel
• Ensure that all investigators and research staff comply with federal regulations and company SOPs

Required Qualifications of the Director of Clinical Research

• 2+ years of recent clinical research experience required
• Some overnight business travel required
• CRC certification preferred
• Master’s degree or equivalent practical experience highly preferred
• High school diploma or GED required
