Enterprise Business Division, Employee Benefits Consultant (MMA New England)

Position Overview:

The Employee Benefits Consultant in the Employee Health and Benefits Division and would report to the Managing Consultant. In this role, the Consultant will need to possess insight and broad knowledge of health and welfare plans including all aspects of employee benefits for groups between 51-99 as well as some groups with over 100 enrolled employees. The ideal Consultant will have knowledge of various employee benefit plan options available to small to mid-size employer groups and will thrive in an environment where they can align a client’s long-term business strategies with their benefit plan options.

What can you expect to do?

  • Apply knowledge of employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HRA, HSA, COBRA as well as general HR questions
  • Develop and manage long and short range benefit strategies for clients and foster strong client relationships; may require local travel to client sites
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to clients in areas of Health & Welfare compliance (i.e. HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, 5500, ACA, DOL, etc.)
  • Manage the RFP process for new and prospective clients as well as the renewal and implementation processes
  • Manage the post-implementation process for all lines of coverage
  • Coordinate, develop, and execute project plans and presentations for specific client groups
  • Benchmark survey data for client plans, then summarize and validate reviewed information
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor/partner relationships
  • Become well-versed in all of Marsh McLennan Agency’s practices in order to articulate our services and value proposition to prospective clients and recruits

What do we look for?

  • Prior experience in brokerage or insurance industry with a thorough understanding of health plans, funding alternatives, and the ability to think through non-traditional solutions
  • Strong benefits knowledge including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, STD, and LTD
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure clients understand complex insurance solutions
  • Enjoys and excels at presenting solutions to clients both in person and virtually
  • Proficient in Health & Welfare compliance (i.e. HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, 5500, ACA, DOL, etc.)
  • Life & Health Licensure or commitment to achieving within 6 months of start date
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong self-awareness to identify what they do know and what they don’t
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of internal staff, producers, and management, as well as external clients and carriers
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize client needs and work in fast pace environment
  • Must have attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines with many moving parts
  • Ability to drive the process, remain in control of presentations, lead the client to a decision, and manage them through deadlines
  • Excited by learning new solutions and able to quickly adapt to changing environment
