Outreach & Content Contractor
Bay Area Disc Association

Introduction
Bay Area Disc Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to serve, strengthen and grow the
Ultimate community by creating opportunities for athletes of all ages and backgrounds to interact, develop and compete.

To further the priorities outlined in our 5-Year Strategic Plan, we are looking to hire an individual to help us achieve one of our two primary goals this year: increasing growth and engagement of adult female-matching players. One of the mechanisms we have identified to support this goal is through an
Outreach & Content role.

Position Summary
Title: Outreach & Content Contractor
Type: Contractor
Location: Hybrid (most work done remotely with some travel within the Bay Area)
Term: Preferred May 1st start, ends September 30, 2023 with possibility of extension
Compensation: $38/hr for a maximum of 40 hours per month ($1500 per month cap)
Directly Reports To: Jen Pashley, Executive Director
Will Also Collaborate With: Jen Thomas (Communications Manager), Jesse White (Adult League
Director), Dani Lopez (Events Director)

What the Role Entails
We are looking for someone to help us specifically in two main areas:

1. Content: creating visually appealing, story-driven content to recruit new adult female-matching players into our existing programs, which includes leveraging our existing photo library and adding new photos and videos.

2. Outreach: creating personal, direct and sustained outreach to our existing adult female-matching players to find their next Ultimate opportunity, which will include in-person/on-site outreach and individual email outreach as well as testing new networking/outreach methods.

Examples of Content tasks may include, but are not limited to:
● Creating collections of photos or live video from events
● Making live social media posts from popular events
● Collecting & publishing interviews from events
● Creating TikTok/Reels-style videos
● Designing graphics highlighting awesome events or individuals

Examples of Outreach tasks may include, but are not limited to:
● Introducing yourself to players at BADA programs and providing flyers/information about upcoming programs during in-person events
● Hosting meetings with community leaders to spread the word about upcoming programs
● Cold calling (via email or phone) social groups, professional groups or other community organizations to invite them to upcoming introductory Ultimate programs

● Answering general information emails about upcoming program opportunities

The individual in this role will be able to set their own schedule, use their own equipment and plan their own outreach directives using BADA’s program schedule, existing resources and staff knowledge to help guide them. They will also provide progress reports via a bi-monthly check-in call.

Skills To Succeed
As with all of our staff, contractors and volunteers, we want our team to succeed in their roles, but we also want to be transparent about the existing framework that we currently operate in.

For context, all of our staff work from home and are very independently driven and organized individuals.
We care a lot about the quality of our work, which includes being consistent, clearly communicating with others and being accountable for our assigned work. We also give ourselves the agency to test things out, make mistakes and learn from them. While we have significant agency in our roles, we regularly check-in with one another through virtual meetings and Slack.

We think the person best suited for this role would be someone who:

● Is independent and able to complete a project from start to finish with limited oversight
● Can oversee their own timing and deadlines, with an ability to accurately and rapidly notify of any condition changes or problems
● Has a passion for storytelling, particularly highlighting individuals whose voices may not have been heard
● Feels comfortable and willing to reach out to and talk to complete strangers
● Has the ability to connect with our community & create stronger, positive relationships with others

In addition, we believe that the following technical skills will also be important for this role:
● Necessary: Some video editing & photo editing experience
● Bonus: Knowledge using MailChimp and/or CRM platforms
● Bonus: Familiarity of Ultimate Central

Measuring Success
We are interested in someone who can help our BADA team accomplish the following by the end of 2023:

● Increase overall growth of adult female-matching players
● Improve adult female-matching player engagement (i.e. # registrations per player)
● Hit registration targets for specific programs

If you are interested in chatting more about this role (both informal and formal!) please schedule a meeting with our Executive Director, Jen Pashley via Calendly or email (jen.pashley@bayareadisc.org). In addition, please send over your professional resume to Jen using the email linked above.
