Long Island promotion agency closely held family Company is seeking a hands-on Controller. This is an onsite full-time position. Qualified candidates should submit their resume in confidence.

Job summary: The Controller provides: accounting, financial operations which encompass the recording of accounting/financial transactions, payroll, cash disbursements and receipts, cash flow, internal and external reports, financial planning and related areas, upgrading the quality of reporting systems, direction and strategy regarding all financial areas of the Company. The position also provides operational and day-to-day support to the Company. The ideal person combines experience in finance/accounting, strategic knowledge and team management.

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the recording of AR and AP, check preparation and signing and bank reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly and Annual financial statements
  • Lend expertise and support in the development of the company’s strategic plans
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company, determination of gross profit on job basis
  • Movement of excess cash between accounts to maximize investment income
  • Communicate financial metrics to management team
  • Manage the preparation of payroll for personnel and maintain HR records
  • Preparation of sales tax returns for New York
  • Knowledge of evaluating and possibly changing the accounting system is a big plus; current software is Adagio; knowledge of Adagio is a big plus
  • Risk assessment of new clients in determination of bonding requirements
  • YE tax items – 1099’s
  • Audit of job folders to make sure revenue and expense items are properly determined

Job requirements:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
  • Minimum 8 -10 years of experience in an accounting role with proven track record and processes to organize, implement, and manage entire company accounting process
  • Management experience with daily financial and day-to-day operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced level of proficiency with computers and learning new programs; network knowledge is a big plus
  • Strong understanding of accounting and cashflow management
  • Someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and is a team player
  • Ability to understand and execute the end-to-end accounting process from transaction capture to period-end reporting
  • Being a Notary is a plus, but becoming one will be a requirement
  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of financial transactions and in-depth knowledge of accounts payable is required

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to Management team and outside Trustee
  • Supervises: one full-time and one part-time accountants
  • Provide support to other departments as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
