Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeps track of received data and source documents.
  • Prepares and sorts source documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.
  • Contacts preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.
  • Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into computer following format displayed on screen, and enters necessary codes.
  • Compares data entered with source documents, or reenters data in verification format on screen to detect errors.
  • Makes necessary corrections to information entered.
  • Compiles, sorts, and verifies accuracy of data to be entered.
  • Keeps record of work completed.
  • Reviews error reports and enters corrections into computer.
  • Transmits entered information into database.
  • Files or routes source documents after entry.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding entered data.
  • Ensures patient's medical insurance eligibility and verifies correct insurance coverage.
  • Distinguishing the types of insurances and entering them in the system accordingly.
  • Opens and sorts all mail received.
  • Posts all patient payments received in mail.
  • Updates return mail with correct address into Nextech.
  • Contacts patients to obtain correct address when not provided on return mail.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous medical records experience highly preferred
  • Nextech experience preferred
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Prior experience with management of paper records
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a routine basis
  • Bachelors degree or minimum of two (2) years office experience
  • Must be willing to travel to nearby CSI practice locations
