POSITION SUMMARY:
The Digital Organizing Manager is a member of the Public Policy, Advocacy, and Organizing Team primarily responsible for growing our movement and leveraging online engagement and tactics to bring powerful, grassroots support and partnership to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice organizing campaigns and policies across Connecticut and Rhode Island.
As the Digital Organizing Manager, you will plan, strategize, and implement online advocacy, supporter education, and mobilization efforts to achieve short- and long-term organizing and policy goals. The Digital Organizing Manager is responsible for coordinating efforts by PPSNE to develop and maintain grassroots support networks throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. They implement new and innovative ways to inform the public through digital platforms, especially within the youth, Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ communities, about political issues affecting reproductive health, rights and access in our states and nationally, and grow public participation in our advocacy work with online tools and tactics.
The Digital Organizing Manager will also provide key support to Planned Parenthood Votes! CT/RI, particularly around volunteer activities in targeted issue-based and electoral campaigns. The ideal candidate for this position will be a results-driven self-starter who is familiar with Connecticut and Rhode Island and understands the major community players working on the ground. They have experience developing and executing successful organizing campaigns around progressive issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Manage and utilize digital tools and strategies for all advocacy and policy campaigns to grow online membership and engagement of our online supporters
- Oversee the goal setting, reporting and implementation of a digital organizing program to engage volunteers within constituency groups to expand the impact of our advocacy efforts:
Build our base of supporters, move them up a ladder of engagement, and deepen their leadership using digital organizing tactics, tools and strategies
Implement digital tools for texting, relational organizing, online advocacy and organizing
Run regular digital trainings for volunteers at all levels of experience and adapt for target constituency groups
Work with our communications team to help supporters share their stories through videos, images, writing, storytelling trainings, etc
Design and execute volunteer electoral programs for voter registration, persuasion, and GOTV through virtual and on-the-ground tactics including peer-to-peer texting, virtual phone banking, and canvassing
Provide coaching and technical assistance to other organizers and community members, helping them use technology and online outreach to further organizing goals
- Work with the Manager, Advocacy & Organizing and Director of Strategic Communications on strategic goals to help build grassroots support for PPSNE’s work by organizing and managing online recruitment and base-building efforts.
Collaborate with the communications team to provide content, events, and actions for social media and coordinate with organizers and advocacy staff to collect photos, videos, stories and other digital content to encourage online supporter engagement.
Serve as the Affiliate Data Manager and oversee usage of the volunteer database and ensure accurate and timely input of program data in VAN by the entire PPAO team.
Train and support organizing team to use digital tools
Produce reports for the Vice President PPAO on department goals and metrics for the quarterly reporting cycle.
Perform administrative duties, including data entry, and completion and submission of paperwork in a timely fashion.
THE KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Passionate commitment to the mission, vision and values of PPSNE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills (verbal and written)
- Requires at least 2-3 years of related and/or applicable organizing experience, including digital organizing, on political or social issues and a proven ability to motivate, train, and develop other leaders, especially volunteers.
- Demonstrated success in leading organizing campaigns with power building, policy and electoral goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, racial equity, and sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice.
- Experience highly preferred with EveryAction/VAN, the use of mass email, SMS, peer-to-peer texting programs and relational organizing tools for volunteer engagement.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully relate to and motivate volunteers.
- Strong organizational skills are required. Project management experience preferred.
- Relevant experience working with and organizing in diverse communities, specifically youth, Black, Latinx or LGBTQ+ communities, around issue, policy and/or electoral organizing, campaigns and initiatives and an extensive knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred

Salary Range: Min: $49,112 – Mid: $61,390 – Max: $76,738
