Dining Room Captain directs the service of members and guests in the dining room. Offers guidelines to dining room staff; greets and seats guests; maintains order and cleanliness; assures that guest satisfaction standards are consistently attained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to meet members and guests upon arrival with a warm welcome; verify membership or guest status; verify reservations; and escort guests to tables.
  • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD).
  • Presents menus to diners; presents special menu verbally; answers questions and makes suggestions regarding food, wine, and service.
  • Coordinate’s food service involving communication between kitchen and service staff.
  • Handles member/guest complaints and problems.
  • Assures that opening and closing side duties are assigned and completed as required.
  • Inspects dining room and waiter stations for proper set-up including sanitation and safety concerns. Inspects bar for readiness.
  • Directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel.
  • Assists with service of food and beverages when needed.
  • Assists with table setting and clearing as needed.
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
  • Monitors servers, bartenders, and bussers to maintain a high level of service, helping to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to fully operate POS System including setting up of specials, ordering, running reports and auditing.
  • Audits server's checks at end of service.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust staffing needs to meet demand.
  • Break down and set up hor d'oeuvre table in main lounge.
  • Assists servers in service of coffee, dessert and clearing of dishes.
  • Offers after dinner drinks to members and guests.
  • Assists in resetting tables.
  • Ability to process check through point-of-sale system and requests member to sign name and account number; makes sure that all items served are entered in POS; retains check to turn in.
  • Ability to operate all job-related equipment including but not limited to coffee machine, espresso machine, beverage dispensers.
  • Ability to make drinks in the absence of a bartender.
  • Advises manager of problems as they occur.
  • Must be able to consistently manage trays, which if holding maximum number of drinks and/or food may weigh up to 30 lbs. When serving food items, trays may weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in determining potentially intoxicated members or guests.
  • Consistently complies with all state, local and club laws/policies related to the service of alcohol.
Licenses and Special Requirements
  • Alcohol beverage certification
  • Food safety certification
  • Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages
Knowledge/Experience
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in a restaurant or hospitality service preferred
  • Basic understanding of beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Great conversational skills and teamwork-oriented
  • Positive outlook and outgoing personality
Physical
  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
About our offer
  • Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour + House Service Charge Distribution Plan
  • This is an hourly non-exempt position.
  • Full-time position
  • Must be able to work different shifts: including Holidays, nights and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.
