RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director for Advancement, the Director for Major and Planned Gifts will be responsible for a portfolio of alumni, parents and friends of Kellenberg Memorial High School.
The Director for Major and Planned Gifts will work closely with the Director for Advancement to identify prospects, design and develop cultivation strategies, and identify gift opportunities that match donors' interests. The successful candidate will be responsible for the personal solicitation in support of the Leadership Gifts ($1,000+) to the Annual Fund and Major Gifts ($25,000+) and will continually look to steward donors. The candidate will also work to cultivate new members of the Phoenix Legacy Society (Planned Gifts) and be instrumental in foundation requests.
The Director will also work closely with the Principal and the Director of Advancement on the upcoming initiative to secure philanthropic support for the planned new Firebird Center for Arts and Athletics, scheduled for opening in the spring of 2024.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manage a portfolio of Major Gift and leadership-level Annual Fund prospects, in addition to securing new Planned Giving commitments.
Working with colleagues and independently with the school's database and other resources, develop a portfolio of Major Gift and leadership-level Annual Giving prospects
Conduct independent research to identify new prospects and to learn more about known prospects
Develop and execute thoughtful strategies for the cultivation/engagement, solicitation (annual and major gift) and stewardship of each assigned prospect
Engage in 75 face-to-face prospect visits per year (~6 visits per month), traveling as necessary to meet with them.
Engage in at least 30 Major Gift and leadership-level Annual Giving solicitations per year (goal in the first year will be lower).
Develop and execute a plan to increase awareness about planned gifts to Kellenberg and to secure 10 new planned gifts annually.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree required and minimum three (3) years of experience in fund-raising. The Director for Major and Planned Gifts must be creative, energetic, and a self-starter; effective written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills; presentation skills and be a persuasive advocate for Kellenberg's priorities. Raiser's Edge software knowledge is required. The Director for Major and Planned Gifts must be able to work effectively as part of the Advancement team and with all constituencies of the school community. Some travel and some evening and weekend work required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
