Heritage Cooperative is an agriculture cooperative providing value to our members and customers through individualized solutions for nearly 100 years. We are seeking a proven and experienced leader to direct marketing efforts for the organization. The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for directing and implementing the marketing and communications strategy and programs, including branding, advertising, promotions, and philanthropic efforts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for ensuring consistent branding and messaging in content and materials are carried through all communications channels.
  • Ensure that the appropriate systems, staffing, and procedures are in place to support the marketing and communications team.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with division leads to understand customers, products, and services, to build a focused marketing/communications program to achieve aligned goals.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual marketing and communications plan that includes social media, print and digital content, through email, texting and other digital and traditional marketing channels.
  • Continually evaluate and enhance website content and layout for best user experience.
  • Explore and adopt new communications channels, methods, and platforms to enhance marketing and communications.
  • Oversee planning for tradeshows, conferences, and events to promote organization, products, services, and career opportunities.
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all publications.
  • Coordinate media interest and ensure updated media contacts as the company’s media representative.
  • Develop and make recommendations on company’s philanthropic efforts and ensure impactful execution of sponsorship programs.
  • Develop and manage annual marketing budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least five to eight years of professional experience, including leading the marketing and communications activities of an organization
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in the areas of communications
and marketing related field (e.g., marketing, business administration, management,
advertising, journalism, and/or communications)
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the successful development and
execution of marketing campaigns, communications, and public relations activities.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and personal skills, with the experience of managing multiple projects at a time.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of online, digital, and print collateral and publications
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience developing and implementing successful social marketing strategies
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and system
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to manage multiple concurrent projects while also being highly detail-oriented

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Driver License, with acceptable driving record
  • Previous industry experience
  • Portfolio of projects/campaigns
  • Agriculture marketing/communications experience preferred but not required.
