Overview

The Product Training Director is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of product education for the company. This role is critical in developing an organization that understands the important role that our product knowledge excellence plays in the success and growth of our customers and therefore the success and growth of the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with the executive team and regional leadership to assess the needs and learning requirements for the organization
  • Create and control training budget; operate within the approved budget
  • Develop product training strategies, plans, and programs in alignment with company goals and initiatives; ensure deliverables are produced on time and to budget
  • Teach product training curriculum to the field trainers ensuring an understanding of the subject matter as well as methods of training delivery
  • Conduct product training in alignment with company goals and initiatives
  • Assess the effectiveness of product trainers; conduct evaluations and provide development and coaching for success
  • Oversee the coordination of all product training activities across the company
  • Measure the impact of training programs; provide insights regarding progress and recommendations to leadership on program enhancements, as needed

Additional Primary Responsibilities

  • Recruit, select, orient, and train product trainers; conduct terminations, as needed
  • Coach and counsel employees; discipline individuals according to company policy; plan and monitor employee goals; and appraise performance
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Specialist of Spirits designation from the Society of Wine Educators
  • Prior experience in supporting the training function within a company of the significant size and dollar revenue
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver content to multiple audience levels and be highly effective in an ambiguous environment, producing maximum results with little direction and guidance
  • Ability to travel: approximately 50% of the time

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time may include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
