Job Title: District Manager

Reports to: Area Director

Job Summary: District Managers are similar to Junior Area Directors or Area Director in Training who under the guidance of their Area Director, travel regularly to assist all locations within their Area with a variety of strategic, operational and people leadership tasks. They embody Burger Lounges culture and standards. This is a developmental position between General Manager and Area Director. You must be a current Burger Lounge employee to apply for this position - No external applicants are accepted.

Essential Functions:

Team:

  • Supports and helps create a work environment that supports and upholds the companys Mission, Vision and Core Values.
  • Demonstrates best leadership behaviors: humble, approachable, candid, and caring, creates an environment focused on results while making it fun.
  • Ensures all locations demonstrate best behaviors with all people-related practices according to Burger Lounge standards (selection and interviewing, hiring, and onboarding, training and development, workplace injuries, etc.)
  • Ensures leaders are creating a best-in-class work environment to ensure employees are productive, engaged and turnover is reduced.
  • Since District Managers dont directly oversee a team of employees (no one directly reports to them), they must successfully create relationships with all levels of the restaurant and regularly communicate and support the leaders and employees in the locations they assist.

Guests:

  • Focused on ensuring guests leave happier than when they arrived.
  • Always welcomes guests with warm smile and initiates friendly conversation. Ensures Loungers at each location are focused on developing strong relationships and knowing the names of regulars.
  • May, on occasion circulate the dining room, touch tables and exhibits soft skills, social awareness and non-verbal cues. Strong ability to read the room, the tables and respond accordingly.
  • Focuses team on guest service and execution to ensure guest expectations are met/ exceeded.

Operations:

  • Schedule is determined by Area Director to assist based on business needs.
  • Training New Staff- May assist GMs by certifying managers in training (MITs) and helps ensure all employees receive proper training according to Burger Lounge standards and expectations.
  • Assists GMs and KMs with certifying Loungers to next job level. Adheres to all L&D procedures and practices.
  • Coaches in real-time to ensure Loungers are focused on and meeting expectations related to cleanliness, operational standards (SOPs), and training guidelines.
  • Interviewing: may assist locations in selection and hiring processes by following Burger Lounge hiring standards and uses Talent Reef according to policy.
  • Onboarding: Ideally, the restaurants GM is always present for a new employees first day and conducts N.E.W. and the hiring process. If the GM position is vacant, or the GM is on a leave or vacation, the District GM will help ensure all new employees are welcomed and on-boarded according to company standards to increase employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Safety: Ensures all handling of guest or employee injuries is timely and thorough. Follows standards and best practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ensures restaurant leaders place orders accurately and timely with vendor while maintaining quality and accuracy of all deliveries.
  • Inventory: May assist in conducting accurate and timely inventories according to standards.
  • Communication: Communicates regularly and consistently with guests and all employees to optimize service levels. Take proactive steps to ensure GM and AD are kept in the loop on all operational and people matters.
  • Works well with all vendors and support center team to ensure execution and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures all cash handling, opening, and closing procedures are completed correctly and timely.
  • Ensures proper safety and security practices are followed including key control measures.
  • Focused on continuous improvement (personally and professionally) to grow and develop in preparation of future career opportunities at Burger Lounge.
  • Ensures restaurant employees adhere to all wage and hour related laws and company policies including clocking in/out accurately, taking meal and rest breaks, etc.
  • Successfully manages time to complete and submit any and all administrative reports and deliverables as needed. Effectively leads restaurant management to ensure their payroll, accounting and employee experience tasks are completed correctly and on time.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year as a Burger Lounge General Manager (this is an internal hire only)
  • Clean performance record: No disciplinary action or performance issues on record within last six (6) months of applying for or assuming the District Manager position.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to regularly travel to all locations in Area on regular basis.
  • Excellent time-management and organization skills required
  • Fully versed on Burger Lounge training processes and standards with ability to certify employees to next job.
  • 100% open schedule availability
  • Must live in Area assigned (Los Angeles, San Diego, etc.)
  • Successful track record of meeting Burger Lounges administrative deliverables and deadlines (eX, Payroll, Accounting, etc.) and technical demands (Aloha, HotSchedules, Ctuit, ADP, Outlook, Computer skills)
  • Passionate and skilled at training and developing people according to Burger Lounge standards
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership Skills: District Managers must be leaders while not directly supervising a team. Ability to develop positive relationships at all locations to successfully rally the teams during busy shifts, assist in resolving any conflicts timely and creating a fun and productive work environment.
  • Professional communication (verbal and written) and effective communicator: Must consistently update restaurant GMs and Area Director on all appropriate people (employees, vendors, guests) and operational matters using OML, email, face-to-face meetings and other methods as necessary.
  • High emotional intelligence, good time management and organization skills, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of co-workers.
  • Serve Safe Food Protection Manager Certification maintained in good standing.

Competencies: Positive leadership, time-management, training and development, guest service and recovery, great communicator, and relationship developer, computer & administrative duties proficiency, cleanliness and quality focus, strong leadership skills, multi-tasker, safety-minded, team player.

Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
