Location: Iowa Department of Corrections – NCCF/Rockwell City and Fort Dodge Iowa Correctional Facilities.
**This position may serve at a single institution or multiple institutions in a given week or month and may also require travel to Ames and Ankeny for training and organizational support. The team member will be responsible for his/her own transportation with certain travel costs reimbursable after DOT establishes a headquarters location for the employee.
Shift: Flexible Schedule; Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Your responsibilities as a Mobility Manager:
- Track information for the offender re-entry mobility program which will be reviewed and assessed by agency leadership, as well as other state government agencies, stakeholders, and community groups.
- Understand broadly internal, state, and federal policy, rules, and regulations specific to transit and identity issuance processes and can convey critical information to customers and external entities in a way someone without a technical background or knowledge can comprehend.
- Review all driver and identity-related documentation including driving record, sanctions, medical and vision reports, prior to meeting with each customer in person.
- Analyze circumstances and driving record for drivers seeking reinstatement of driving
- Determine applicant eligibility and issue either a driver's license or non-driver identification card to customer utilizing the DOT's mobility issuance kits.
- Review all payment plan options and assist with establishing payments, when possible, based on customer record and any outstanding fines/sanctions.
- Review mobility options as part of the mobility planning process, available to the customer if a suspension, denial, cancellation, or revocation are in place; reviewing and offering alternative modes of transportation available within the area in which customer resides or will be residing. Coordinating efforts with local transit agencies to organize travel training, route planning and obtaining bus passes.
- As part of the re-entry program, establishes means to follow-up with offenders after re-entry to provide ongoing assistance to their mobility and transportation needs to increase successful transition into society and assisting in reducing recidivism rates.
- Additionally, as part of the Driver Central Programs team, the position is responsible for ensuring resources are effective and consistently provided to customers, striving for materials that are clear, comprehensive, accurate and accessible. Coordinating with the division's lead program managers regarding program updates, awareness, education, training, and outreach opportunities, and acting as support and extension of program support in the field.
- Responsible for ensuring courteous, competent, consistent, accurate and professional delivery of services; demonstrating a commitment to helping all customers and treating all customers with dignity and respect; and is responsive to serve a diverse customer base and customers of limited English proficiency.
- Additional responsibilities of this position include:
Making presentations to groups such as civic and/or service organizations and agencies to promote the outreach/mobility program.- Attending meetings and network with various community organizations.
- Obtaining Travel Training certification and attend other related trainings.
- Identifying internal training and educational opportunities for DOT employees.
- Identifying offender-specific needs and bring to the attention of appropriate DOT leaders.
- Successfully completing all necessary training with the Department of Corrections or other entities
- required for interaction with the offender community.
Special Requirements:
- Valid driver license necessary.
- Candidate is required to have at least four (4) years of experience with driver license and non-driver identification card issuance.
- Candidate is required to have at least four (4) years of experience with evaluating driving records and driving exams.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
