Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist maintenance department in repairing and maintaining all plant equipment
- Perform drive system maintenance, troubleshooting and repair tasks
- Perform Boiler/Steam system controls maintenance, troubleshooting and repair tasks
- Help to Plan installation and start-up of equipment
- Assist maintenance department in minimizing downtime
- Track all inconsistencies in order to predict a malfunction
- Perform hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance
- Perform electrical installations, repairs, and service equipment per NEC and NFPA codes
- Install conduit, pull wire, and terminate per blueprints
- Build and test electrical panels
- Observing and following plant rules for safety and GMPs, and for working with Food/Medical grade products
- Willing to further education through training and seminars
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Notify Maintenance supervisor of any potentially dangerous situations
- Maintains adherence to Company policies and safety standards
- Minimize mill downtime in a safe manner
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A.S. Degree in related field or two + years' experience in industrial or commercial electrical trades.
- Understanding of OSHA safety requirements in a manufacturing environment
- Able to work independently or in a team environment
- Strong mathematical skills and strong decision making skills
- Able to read and follow written and verbal work instructions
- Experience with PLC's
Preferred requirements:
- Experience in industrial or commercial electrical trades for a minimum of 2 years.
- Thorough knowledge of Lock out Tag out procedures
- Familiar with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) standards
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
Physical Requirements
- Able to climb ladders and perform work at various heights
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds
- Able to use hands and arms to grasp, push, pull, reach, and/or lift above shoulder level
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Overtime may be required.
- Must have a working telephone, and be able to respond to emergency call-ins
- Work safely around moving mechanical equipment and nip parts
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or other airborne particles and vibration *in which certain PPE is required
- Able to work beyond or less than normally scheduled work hours
- Able to work weekends or partial weekends on a scheduled basis
- Capable of working in hot, cold, humid environment
- Hearing protection (earplugs/earmuffs) is required to protect against hearing loss from the noise levels in the work environment
- Responsible for wearing other required PPE such as safety glasses and steel toe boots
- Subject to mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol upon hiring, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis.
