RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the philosophy, policies, and goals of the school as well as the decisions made by the Administrators.
- Serve as an example of professionalism in a Catholic context.
- Ensure the welfare, health, and safety of every student.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as provided in the ECDC Parent/Student Handbook, Employee Handbook, and ECDC Supplement Handbook. Attend faculty and administrative meetings as necessary.
The front desk assistant is in charge of assisting the director and assistant director of the licensed daycare with daily operations of the early child development program. The tasks described below are only a sample of what the Front Desk Assistant will be expected to do.
DUTIES:
- Greeting those who inquire about the school in a friendly and inviting manner.
- In accordance with the goals of preschool and prekindergarten, set a positive example.
- Show enthusiasm.
- Maintain a tidy and organized office space.
- Maintain documentation on the hallway walls, including Parent Boards and Director Board updates.
- Supervise student sign-in and sign-out.
- Attend to ill students in the absence of a nurse or the director or assistant director of the ECDC.
- Handles administrative duties include filing, typing, photocopying, collating, and delivering information.
- Write and release the ECDC yearbook.
- Incoming calls should be answered, screened, and program information should be given politely.
- Retain walkie-talkie contact with ECDC staff, administration, admin support, and teachers.
- Create and distribute director written communications, such as fliers and newsletters, as necessary.
- Enough wisdom and maturity to function in emergency situations. the capacity to employ leadership effectively when it is required.
- Manage the workplace and help with daily tasks.
- Communication with the public, parents, and staff
- Regularly informing students on school rules and regulations.
- Help parents in person, on the phone, or by email.
- Help other employees solve problems.
- Printing out calendars, handbooks, tuition costs, curricula, etc. can help with registration.
- Use work orders and walkie-talkies to communicate with facilities about preschool needs and inquiries; aid in creating work orders that can be submitted.
- Managing the telephones - answering phones, getting messages, and delivering messages, giving general information about the school, logging queries, and sending out the necessary information are all tasks that need to be completed.
- Updating the ECDC calendar.
- Keep a record of your attendance each month.
- Regularly inform students on school rules and regulations.
- Punctuality: shows up for work promptly.
- Presentation: demonstrates poise, good manners, neat and proper attire, as well as being clean and well-groomed. obeys the dress code set forth in the staff manual.
- Documenting occurrences with ECDC teachers and parents; filing as necessary; and performing any other tasks that are delegated.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Having completed at least 12 ECE/HD modules and having three years of professional experience.
- Understanding of Title 22 of the Department of Social Services' Child Care Division.
- Proven track record of creating and sustaining effective working relationships with faculty, parents, and administrators.
- Excellent written and vocal communication abilities.
- The capacity to enter, use, and generate reports for all admissions-related data using Blackbaud software.
- The ability to use Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel (to create reports and charts) as necessary.
- The capacity to work well with others as a member of an effective ECE team.

Environment: The majority of the work is done in a typical daycare or classroom.
Physical: The primary duties include lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling light to moderate weights, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, occasionally bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting, operating office equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and fine coordination, including using a computer keyboard, and verbally communicating to exchange information.
Visual range: See clearly with or without correction.
Hearing: With or without correction, hear within the typical auditory range.
