The Economic Specialist VISTA will reduce poverty by working towards increasing organizational capacity for community-based plans. The VISTA will also assist the Director of Community Programs & Relations to create jobs at multiple income and education levels, and spur increased tourist visitation which can lead to the creation of new jobs. Economic diversification and business development is a pathway out of poverty for many Lake Havasu City residents. During the year as a VISTA with LHC Main Street Association, a VISTA can expect to build relationships, develop new programs, and partner with internal stakeholders. The Alliance VISTA team offers monthly professional development, a state-wide network of support, and beauty that can only be found in rural Arizona. This position requires relocating to Arizona.

Tasks include: 1) Coordinate and facilitate business retention efforts. 2) Develop marketing initiatives and strategies to promote economic investment throughout Lake Havasu City. 3) Engage in resource development - grant writing, individual giving, and corporate giving.

This is an AmeriCorps National Service position. This service opportunity is one year, full-time, and offers a stipend. The service opportunity includes: Living Allowance, Relocation Allowance, End of Service Award, Healthcare Benefit, Non-Competitive Eligibility, and Professional Development training. The position is located with LHC Main Street Association. Relocation to Lake Havasu City is required.
