As one of the first schools of social work in the United States, the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice has shaped the field for more than 100 years. Crown Family School faculty, staff and students focus on identifying solutions to complex problems affecting society’s most marginalized individuals and communities through the integration of research, training, and direct community engagement. Guided by an interdisciplinary tradition, Crown Family School scholars conduct innovative research to address interconnected social challenges such as educational inequality, health disparities, crime and violence, poverty, and child and family welfare—working at multiple scales, from individual to policy-level interventions. The Crown Family School is the home of several academic centers. These include the Susan and Richard Kiphart Center for Global Health and Social Development, the Urban Education Institute (UEI), the Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention, the Center for Health Administration Studies, the Smart Decarceration Project, the Employment Instability, Family Well-being, and Social Policy Network (EINet), and the Network for College Success. Today, our work has never been more important. Job Summary
The Education Outreach, Sr. Specialist of the To&Through Project is responsible for essential operations at the To&Through Project, including, but not limited to, planning and facilitating team meetings, retreats, and DEI sessions, project management, internal communication, and onboarding/offboarding for staff. The Education Outreach, Sr. Specialist is also responsible for all of the To&Through Project’s external communication and engagement, including website development and maintenance, webinars (including Data Collaborative), newsletters, and other events.
In this work, the Education Outreach, Sr. Specialist supervises the Story and Engagement Team at To&Through, and maintains relationships with key stakeholders across the city. The Education Outreach, Sr. Specialist also oversees all professional learning conducted by the To&Through Project and manages mission-critical research and consulting projects. The Education Outreach, Sr. Specialist report to the Director of the To&Through Project, and consults with him/her on strategically important and politically sensitive projects, including budget, HR, strategy, and development.
Responsibilities
To&Through Team Leaderships and Culture – 40%

Plan and facilitate team meetings and retreats, including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work.

Be responsible for project management and internal communication across the different dimensions and partners organizations that constitute the To&Through Project.

Oversee onboarding and offboarding for new and departing staff.

Contribute to the To&Through development, maintaining positive relationships with funders and foundations.
Communications and Engagement – 35%

Oversee the To&Through Project’s engagement and communications work, including the website, social media, listserv, webinars, newsletters, and events.

Supervise the Senior Case Study Writer and the Engagement Analyst, being ultimately responsible for all case studies, student profiles, and their application in the field.

Build and maintain relationships with education and community leaders across the city, representing the To&Through Project in a variety of different spaces.

Plan and host To&Through webinars, Data Collaboratives, and other spaces of professional learning.
Research – 15%

Oversee the design and delivery of professional learning associated with research and data from the To&Through Project.

Lead research on the attainment of community areas in the city of Chicago.

Contribute to research projects on high school and college success.
Consulting – 5%

Consult with the School District of Philadelphia in their work to improve high school graduation rates.
Other Duties – 5%

Under the direction of the Dean and in cooperation with school senior leadership, advises and develops strategies, programs and relationships to advance the school and the University.

Uses deep knowledge of the University of Chicago and divisional vision and values to assess, evaluate, and recommend opportunities for collaboration with national partners.

Performs other related work as needed.
