Western State Hospital (WSH) is recruiting for an Emergency Response Technicians (ERT)
The shifts are 8am-8pm, 7 days a week…
Team A: Weds-4, Thurs-12, Fri-12, Sat-12 (Off Sun-Mon-Tues)
Team B Sun-12, Mon-12, Tues-12, Weds-4 (Off Thurs-Fri-Sat)
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide safe and effective individualized treatment in a recovery focused environment.
-Maintain safety and milieu management of resident population and staff at Western State Hospital.
-Maintain constant and position interaction with patients on the unit.
-Ensure that unit safety is maintained on each unit on each shift and provide therapeutic and physical interventions when needed while also assisting with monitoring and engagement activities with patients.
-Respond to emergency codes on the units.
-Ultimate control over the safety of patients on designated unit through efficient and compliant use of TOVA and approved de-escalation techniques.
-Assignment will be to one specific unit/units with occasional rotations to other units as needed. Responsible for leading the safety culture and initiatives on the unit.
-Will be required to attend TOVA III training and/or any additional required training
Shift differentials are as follows:
- 2nd shift weekday $2.50 3-11
- 3rd shift weekday $2.25 11-7
- 1st shift weekend $3.00 7-3
- 2nd shift weekend $3.00 3-11
- 3rd shift weekend $3.00 11-7
Minimum Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a Valid Virginia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer candidates with Associates degree in Human Services. Prior experience working in a field such as law enforcement, military police, corrections, mental health or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in preparing reports and conduct investigations. Experience in handling difficult individuals and be able to follow appropriate approved procedures to physically control, confine and restrain in difficult situations. Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.
