BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY :
The Engineer I position is responsible for participating in projects and daily tasks to assist with meeting business objectives. This position will conduct analysis, create standardized work, test products, and work with other associates to implement new processes. The Engineer I is responsible for working independently on projects and the implementation of Lean concepts.
The Engineer I position utilizes technical knowledge to assist others and is able to serve as an expert in supporting the Operations team. This position is responsible for working directly with stores and simultaneously handling other departmental tasks at one time.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on a team and utilize Lean concepts such as 5S, standardized work, and visual aides to design work for projects that are small to medium size
- Responsible for creating standardized work and providing content for training material on work techniques
- Design building layouts to support the needs of the production system
- Selection and testing of all equipment, tools, materials, supplies, and processes
- Work with Engineers and store locations in problem-solving and assist with developing action plans
- Participates in Kaizen events
- Manage projects of small to medium complexity
- Maintain a basic understanding of IE methodologies
- Responsible for report out of project results to the Regional VP level
- Ensure current processes are capable of meeting manufacturing standards
- Set labor standards and staffing guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS :

- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks on time sensitive schedules
- Must be able to learn the business and be able to apply engineering methodologies to meet business objectives
- Travel: approx. 20-30% of the time, could exceed 30% depending on the project
- Facilitates group discussions with diplomacy and seeks diverse opinions
- Ability to read the audience and adjust communication style appropriately
- Delivers organized and engaging presentations; tailors messages to the audience
- Written and verbal skills are clear and professional and able to adjust to the appropriate audience
- Must utilize advanced analytical thought and quantitative methods in solving complex problems
- Able to use applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and AutoCad
- The position requires strong analytical and organizational skills
- Must be able to simplify complex situations and react accordingly
- Ability to identify and conduct root cause analysis to problem-solve
- Ability to evaluate complex issues and develop innovative solutions
- Must look at situations from multiple angles, applies different methods to develop conclusions and anticipates challenges
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Engineering degree, required
- 0-4 years of Lean manufacturing experience, preferred
- 1 year experience working on project teams
