We have an exciting opportunity open for an Environmental GHG Specialist.


POSITION SUMMARY:


The Environmental GHG Specialist is responsible for data collection, analysis, and environmental reporting of greenhouse gas emissions for Summit Utilities, Inc. This position will also support special projects related to emissions reduction strategies and new technologies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the subject-matter expert on issues related to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and reporting.
  • Collects GHG data, calculates GHG emissions, and completes recordkeeping and reporting for EPA Subpart W and other required reporting.
  • Responsible for managing and contributing to Summit’s corporate GHG emissions inventory.
  • Provides analysis related to GHG mitigation in support of the corporate GHG emission reduction roadmap.
  • Provides support for preparing regulatory and internal reports and presentations related to the environmental aspects of corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
  • Participates in regulatory review, industry committees, and stakeholder meetings to help support environmental initiatives.
  • Supports emissions measurement activities to ensure accurate data is collected.
  • Coordinates and manages consultant support for GHG inventory management.
  • Develops and analyzes carbon market strategies by assessing carbon credit projects and carbon offset procurement.
  • Oversees implementation of data acquisition, handling, and reporting processes and supports review/verification processes.
  • Participates in industry association committees and subcommittees through involvement in organizations including, but not limited to, the AGA, SGA, MEA, and ONE Future.
  • Develops and manages a schedule to ensure all data collection, processing, verification, and reporting tasks are performed on time.
  • Provides environmental guidance to operations and engineering personnel in support of their job functions.
  • Conducts environmental compliance visits to sites to enhance communications and maintain compliance.
  • Program Manager for voluntary GHG reporting.
  • Reports directly to the Environmental Programs Manager and provides additional environmental project support as necessary.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental Science related studies preferred.
  • 5-8 years of Air, GHG reporting required.
  • Experience developing of Corporate GHG inventories (Scope 1, 2 and 3) and decarbonization prioritization planning.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Detail oriented and demonstrates analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of employees to effectively introduce and drive program success.
  • Maintains accurate environmental records database(s) to ensure timely response for various internal/external data requests.
  • Able to take initiative, to reason and exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with a variety of individuals and situations.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information, work effectively under pressure, and practice efficient time management.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply operational knowledge of the natural gas utility industry.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of environmental regulations and how they relate to work performed by multiple Business Units.
  • High level of proficiency and experience in software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities and deadlines quickly and independently.
  • Able to manage environmental documentation in accordance with record retention requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to interact with internal and external parties in person and virtually.
  • Able to travel out of town, occasionally overnight, for meetings, audits, conferences, etc.


Salary based on experience - $71,267- 106,901 annually.
