Field Systems Technician
Job description
Completes electrical installation and calibration of a wide range of security systems at project sites across the United States. The person troubleshoots issues during system start up and provides service and repair of installed systems to ensure system meets customer requirements and is fully functional. The position works closely with the Project Management, Installation, and Engineering Departments to ensure system installation is completed in accordance with customer specifications and system design, resolve complex issues, and make recommendations for system/product improvements. This position interfaces with customers on system launches, providing system training and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Travel 2-3 weeks at a time on various projects.
· Terminations of all system components (barriers, traffic signals, heat trace, loops, control panels, communication and power).
· Troubleshoot PLC programs and in field modifications to PLC programming, to ensure sequence of operations meets contract specifications and client needs.
· Installation, Startup, & Troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic actuated barrier systems including power, controls, & hydraulics.
· Interpretation of drawing packages for field installation, repairs, and modifications required.
· Troubleshooting of existing barrier systems (GGT systems & other Manufacturer’s) and repair as required.
· Preventative maintenance on existing barrier systems as outlined in System O&M manuals
· Representation of the company with respect and integrity as the on site face of the company including treating all customers with the highest level of respect and proper communication internally and externally.
- Able to read and evaluate civil engineering and electrical blueprints, panel layout sheets, and other technical schematics
- Working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and familiarity with hydraulic systems desired.
- Skilled in running conduit and pulling wire desired
- Able to operate motor vehicles and material handling equipment
- Knowledge of construction safety procedures
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- 7-10 years experience in electronics, including installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic, electrical, automation and motion control systems, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and human-machine interfaces on complex electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience building complex electrical systems including high voltage (up to 480VAC), Automation A controls, and using various electrical and electronic test equipment and hand tools.
- Work is performed primarily outdoors with exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions
- Worker is frequently exposed to various levels of constant or intermittent noise
- Worker is occasionally exposed to dust and fumes
- Works is occasionally performed in confined spaces
- Able to travel up to 80% Monday through Friday, and work variable hours including occasional nights and weekends as required
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and numerous tasks
- Mobility (i.e., walking, standing and climbing) to gain access to customer sites and location of equipment
- Crouching and kneeling when working on systems at lower levels and in tight quarters
- Climbing when working on ladders and scaffolding to reach and service equipment
- Manual dexterity involving telephone, keyboard, and other office machine operations
- Visual acuity when reviewing written information via documents or computer
- Lift and transport 50 lbs (up to 10 lbs constantly, 10-20 lbs frequently, and 20-50 lbs occasionally); Lift and transport up to 75 lbs with mechanical support or other means when available.

Pay: $22.00 - $40.00 per hour
