This position is 10 hours weekly; up to $20/hr.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The goal of this position is to research grant opportunities, maintain related records, and draft grant proposals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies. a. Maintain related records and submit reports.
2.Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
a. Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.
3.Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
4.Working with Advancement staff, prepare stewardship materials to enable donors to understand and appreciate the impact their gifts are making.
a. Create actionable content for fundraising communications.
5.Perform other tasks in support of Advancement goals, as assigned.
6.Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions.
7.Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards.
8.Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications.
9.Obtain and maintain required training(s).

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Have a minimum of three years of experience in writing for development/fundraising, grants, communications, or related fields. Nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects, work both collaboratively and independently, and produce high quality work against a deadline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of people, including colleagues, donors, and funders required.
