POSITION DESCRIPTION

The employee will report to the Kona Hatchery and Nursery Manager and work closely with all Kona Staff. The Technician will help with all aspects of the hatchery and nursery including nursery production, algae culture and maintenance. This is a very physically active position including climbing ladders in and out of large tanks and repetitive lifting of oysters, sand, shell, and seed. You will stand and work for long hours on occasion.

• Must be able to work weekends
• Able to carry out repetitive tasks
• Must have good communication skills
• May be required to do other tasks as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The employee is required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, squat, or stand for daily tasks
• The employee needs to be able to lift up to 50 lbs., or 100 lbs. with assistance.
• The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers

• Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
