CHILD, Inc. is seeking a full-time Health Assistant.

CHILD, Inc. is a private, non-profit early education and care program providing comprehensive services and supports to low-income pregnant people and families with children birth to five years in Kent County, RI. Programs included Head Start, Early Head Start, and RI Pre-K.

Interested candidates must be available to work from 8:00-5:00 at any of our four locations.

Health Assistants work under the direct supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse to ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality health and safety services .

Responsibilities:

  • Follow the philosophy, policies, and procedures of CHILD, Inc.
  • Demonstrate positivity, flexibility, punctuality, and dependable attendance.
  • Demonstrate respect and confidentiality for the diverse population served and support a culture of acceptance and inclusion.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, community partners, and families while representing the agency.
  • Ability to accept direction and supervision.
  • Assist in the ongoing monitoring, collection, and entering of health information for children and pregnant people into an electronic record.
  • Assist nurses with health and safety screenings, tasks, and program initiatives.
  • Assist in daily monitoring and data entry for the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Assist in general administrative tasks.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide support and services to children and families.
  • Support fellow colleagues by answering phones; screening and checking in program visitors; and providing substitute classroom coverage for lunch breaks or other tasks as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and in-service training during and after hours, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma/GED. A certificate , credential, or degree in the allied health field strongly preferred. Transcripts and documentation will be required.
  • Prior experience in the field of health/human development, data entry, and general office support tasks is highly preferred.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and proficient computer skills.
  • Must have a valid RI driver's license and an insured vehicle. Proof of insurance will be required.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
