The Heavy Highway Construction Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing instruction, facilities usage, and inventory for the Heavy Highway Construction Program. Additionally, the Heavy Highway Construction Program Coordinator will instruct the heavy highway classes, deliver corporate training through Texas Workforce Commission grants, fill in as a substitute instructor as needed. This position will also work closely with local businesses, Texas Transportation Institute, Rutgers University, and Prairie A&M University to ensure that the training provided meets and exceeds industry expectations for entry-level positions.
Essential Duties
Participate in the preparation and delivery of heavy highway classes: Prepares prospectuses, program submissions, syllabi, course descriptions, and other course-related documents as required by SACSCOC, THECB, and/or College policies and regulations:
Teach assigned heavy highway classes and Pre-Apprenticeship classes as well as be a substitute instructor for heavy highway construction. Delivers one credit or non-credit courses for heavy highway not to exceed 64 contact hours per 16-week and 10-week semester:
Completes hiring process for faculty as needed in the Heavy Highway Construction Program:
Create and deliver corporate training in Heavy Highway Construction throughout the Blinn College district: Maintain inventories of tools, classroom supplies, and commodities necessary for the delivery of all heavy highway construction classes: Develop and maintain partnerships with area employers in order to cultivate input into the Heavy Highway Construction Program in order to improve the quality of material and curriculum provided to the students as well as employment opportunities for program completers: Participate in department and division meetings, serve on various committees, and perform other duties as assigned: Creates program schedules for each semester: Speaks with students for technical advising questions and to resolve student questions/comments/concerns:Other duties as required by the Dean of Technical and Community Education.

- Associate’s degree in related area.
- 3+ years experience in Heavy Highway Construction or Civil Engineering
- 3+ years’ working in a lab environment
- Experience maintaining an inventory of consumables, tools, and equipment
- Experience ordering consumable supplies for construction projects

- Ability to earn a NCCER instructor qualification within 30 days of hire (Blinn provided).
- Possess OSHA-10 Hour card or complete within 30 days of hire (Blinn provided).
- Possess forklift certification or complete within 30 days of hire (Blinn provided).
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 5+ years’ experience as a Heavy Highway Construction Manager
- Experience using D2L for grades and attendance
- CPR, First Aid, AED certification
- 3+ years experience teaching or training adults

This position is 100% grant funded, therefore, this position is not permanent and will be eliminated once the grant funding is spent, grant ends or the fiscal year ends, whichever comes first.
This is a 12 month, benefits-eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits.
