Responsible for analysis to aid in either the underwriting of hedge fund credit risk, issuer risk, credit mitigates in structured transactions or counterparty risk. Additional responsibilities include proactive evaluation of Problem Assets, some limit approval authority and reporting of capital markets credit risk. The Counterparty Credit Risk Specialist will primarily interface with the traders/marketers and other risk and support groups (i.e. Compliance, Finance, Operations, etc.). Incumbents typically have over five years of experience in credit risk management. Product knowledge and credit skills are necessary.
- The role sits within the Global Markets Credit group within the Enterprise Credit organization.
- The position will support the development of GMC's capacity for the underwriting and ongoing monitoring of structured loans booked within the Credit Asset Financing line of business.
- This role will support a senior credit officer in the evaluation of new transaction opportunities, screening transactions with the Risk organization and other stakeholders, negotiating key transaction and documentation terms, underwriting and monitoring.
- The associate will be involved in the drafting of credit approval materials.
- Product coverage includes middle market and broadly syndicated loan facilities, loan accumulation facilities / CLO warehouses, CLOs, and hybrid / other asset-based lending facilities.
- Supporting the creation and maintenance of underwriting related policies and procedures for this business activity.
- Undertaking research in the relevant industry sectors.
- Coordinating periodic and/or adhoc reporting, product limits and related underwriting governance.
Required Skills: “Must” have these skills to be minimally qualified.
- BA/BS degree required; Finance, Accounting, Engineering majors preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in banking, rating agencies or similar financial institutions.
- Familiarity with core lending and securitization products.
- Understanding of relevant documentation including indentures and loan agreements etc.
- Experience of Credit Underwriting and credit memo preparation.
- Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Bloomberg, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Skills:
- Ideally knowledge of corporate credit and structured products.
- Formal Credit training at a major bank or institution.
