The Human Resources Manager must have at minimum an Associate’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related Business degree, or a minimum of 5 years of commiserate experience in the field of Human Resources as well as current knowledge of relevant employment regulations.

Must be able to prioritize multiple demands and always maintain professional courtesy. Must be accurate, timely, organized, understand the importance of correct documentation and follow-up, and the role that Human Resources plays in the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties for the Human Resources Manager position includes the following, but in no way does this description imply that these are the only duties to be performed. The Human Resources Manager will be required to follow other instructions and perform duties upon request of their supervisor that are essential to fulfill the position and support the facility and company.

  • · Wear proper uniform and name tag – dress code is business casual
  • · Know and follow all facility policies and procedures
  • · Attend all required in-services as scheduled and abide by them
  • · Respect the rights and dignity of residents and staff at all times
  • · Manage the distribution of employment applications by the receptionist and maintain a monthly application log
  • · Perform initial background checks on all applicants considered for hire including the New Mexico Consolidated on-line registry and New Mexico Sex Offender database
  • · Assure newly hired employees licenses and certifications are current and in good standing. Maintain a log to remind managers of upcoming licenses and certifications due for employees in their respective departments
  • · Assure that payroll information sheets are completed accurately and submitted to the Accounting Manager in a timely manner following the hiring process flow chart. Responsible for ensuring new employees are completely ready to start their first shift
  • · Manage the process of fingerprinting new hires and submitting these fingerprints according to the provisions of the New Mexico Caregivers Criminal History Screening Program
  • · Assure that employment applications and hew hire packets are available and fully completed to ensure accurate processing
  • · Log, file, and maintain Worker’s Compensation paperwork including initial reporting and provide data of employee incidents for safety meetings (monthly)
  • · Assist in the disciplinary process including reviewing and providing guidance with Action Reports and attend disciplinary action meetings
  • · Assist with annual and semi-annual reviews of employee performance
  • · Work in conjunction with Department Mangers to provide the initial general orientation of newly hired staff; and identify, coordinate, and implement staff training so that specific needs are addressed. Maintain all training and education logs for all employees
  • · Process all employee requests and employment verifications pertaining to employment status, past and present
  • · Respond to Federal and/or State inquiries pertaining to employees (New Mexico Workforce Solutions, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Worker’s Compensation hearings, etc.)
  • · Maintain the administrative supplies budget and prepare a monthly record of such
  • · Prepare monthly reports for the Quality Assurance Process Improvement (QAPI) program as needed and requested
  • · Archive terminated employee files and ensure that there are at least two (2) years readily available in the filing system
  • · Provide supervision to the receptionist position(s) including performance evaluations, scheduling, training, coverage as needed, and disciplinary action
  • · Develop and manage the facility Ethics and Compliance Program including training as required
  • · Process all insurance applications for all employees within the company. Understand eligibility time frames. Process all COBRA applications.
  • · Attend daily manager’s meeting as scheduled and provide data requested

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for short distances. Must be able to use hands to handle and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The employee will work in a clean, well lit, heated, and ventilated area. The employee will be required to understand the resident population in preparation for interactions with our residents.
