The Insurance Specialist role is the corporate contact responsible for administering operationally our insurance programs for auto, marine, liability, pollution, property, flood, equipment inventory, transit, and specialty coverages companywide. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Manage claims from initial notification of incident through claim settlement, including:
  • Facilitate claim investigations as it pertains to property damage incidents
  • Reporting to brokers and insurers
  • Tracking/database management
  • Settlement and payment processes
  • Communicate regularly on development and claims status with in-house management, insurance brokers, insurance carriers and their assigned adjusters, State representatives, and third-party administrators.
  • Seek assistance from outside legal counsel on claims as needed.
• Educate managers, supervisors, and key individuals from various corporate functions about insurance requirements.
• Actively participate in the annual insurance renewal process for all property/casualty lines by attending planning and review meetings.
• Support sales staff by reviewing bid invitations for insurance and bonding requirements, by obtaining cost quotes for bonds, securing a variety of types of bonds and assuring prompt delivery.
• Work with the surety representatives at the company’s local insurance broker to obtain bonds related to company operations, such as those needed to support State licensing, as well as for customer bids and contracts involving equipment not manufactured by Caterpillar.

Personal Attributes, Experience, and Education

• Five years of experience in the insurance industry preferred or experience managing insurance claims.
• Knowledge of a variety of insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Skill in managing highly sensitive topics and maintaining confidentiality.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask.
• Ability to utilize Excel at an intermediate or advanced level.
