Knowledge

Understand normal communication and oropharyngeal swallowing functions
Speech therapy needs of the patient requiring home health care
Scope of practice of the speech therapist in DC

Skills

Current application of speech therapy evaluation and treatment for patients requiring home health care
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with parents/caregivers, and staff at all levels
Ability to function efficiently and indepentdently
Excellent time and organizational skills
Good oral and written communication skills with a diverse patient population and all members of the health care team
Legible written communication
Identify the health care needs of patients seen in a home health setting
Ability to anticipate and access patient response to treatment, making appropriate adjustment to the treatment plan
Able to identify organizational system issues and contribute to the probelm solving process
