This is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. Good communication skills a must. Word/Excel experience is needed for this role. Blue beam experience is required. Must be detail oriented, have the ability to multitask, be a self-starter and proactive. Some manual labor required for this role. Overview:
The Junior OSP Fielder is an entry level position which assists Outside Plant Fielders with site surveys, field verifications, and project estimation for the engineering department. This position assists with all necessary field work, records verification, document preparation, and data input, for development of work order construction prints & records posting, simple cable count re-arrangements, joint pole work, and routine work order functions. Some manual labor may be required in this position in order to complete work.

Responsibilities:
The Junior OSP Fielder assists OSP Fielders with the following:
  • Field audits of maintenance holes, hand holes and pull boxes identifying cables, conduits and wall to wall footages.
  • Field audits of utility poles identifying service providers and cable types (e.g., COAX cable, Fiber cable, copper cable,), hardware, span lengths and attachment heights.
  • Design and redline outside plant network facilities and applicable infrastructure routes from Central Office termination point to customer access point or any segment in between.
  • Roding Conduit
  • Initiate Wind Loading and Pole Loading forms.
  • Coordinate access to professional/private facilities (e.g., schools, hospitals, military bases, etc.) when applicable.
  • Field surveys of outside plant aerial and underground network facilities and associated infrastructure.
  • Contact and communicate with customers
  • Minimal labor work
  • Perform such work under minimum supervision.
  • Interacting with customers/developers and municipalities
  • Must have working knowledge of PC applications
  • Lifting manholes for inspection.
  • Prepare electronic drawings using computer aided drafting systems when required
  • Compile data required for the preparation of plans or work order drawings.
Qualifications:
  • Any combination of experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Any previous engineering or construction experience is helpful, but not required
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations. Ability to collect, organize, disseminate and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, including algebra and geometry.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors and coworkers up through all levels of management and staff.
Software Requirements:
  • Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Must have general computer knowledge.
  • Experince with Blue beam software.
Other Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a company drug screening.
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
  • May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers.

Pay Range:
The Junior OSP Fielder position pays an hourly range of $20 to $22 per hour, depending on experience.
