About the Position:
Bowman's Houston landscape studio is seeking a Landscape Designer I to join our growing team of landscape architects, architects, and planners. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new dynamic studio, develop a robust portfolio of built work, and think critically about design and the social impact we can make. Applicants should be highly motivated and possess strong design, graphic, and communication skills as well as have a firm understanding of all aspects of the design process from concept to documentation.

Purpose

Assist in the execution of technical activities required on assigned projects and understands the landscape architecture technical policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

At the Operational and Company Level

• Work closely with more senior staff members to learn about and assist with landscape architecture work.

Do the Work

• Assist or lead in the execution of landscape architectural design on assigned projects within a multidisciplinary collaborative setting.
• Prepare hardscape and landscape plans for urban settings, streetscapes, parks and recreation, etc. including entitlement, site plan and construction documents.
• Prepare graphics and presentation packages.
• Carry out technical and administrative assignments, tabulations, cost estimates, etc.
• Conduct research and prepare construction details and specifications.
• Assist in performing onsite inspections during construction and coordinate design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers.
• May utilize and assist less experienced staff in understanding technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients.
• Consult with clients, engineers, and architects on specifications and needs of overall projects.
• Participate on project teams and in project meetings.
• Written report presentation.
• Actively participate in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the company may be enhanced.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum zero to three (0-3) years’ professional experience and previous Landscape Architecture internship required.
• Pursuit of Landscape Architect Registration preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Modeling (Rhino or SketchUp), and Lumion
• Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to actively participate in design and analysis required on substantial projects.
