OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining interior and exterior premises in an orderly condition.

JOB DUTIES

• Performs job duties in a safe and timely manner using good judgment; reports safety issues, mechanical and potential mechanical problems to the proper personnel.
• Works a fairly repetitive and fixed routine: start-ups, running, and shut-downs of blending equipment.
• Assists in loading of rods on a weekly basis or as needed.
• Works with Tractor Operator and Water Systems on water run-off, flood control and weed control.
• Performs pre-shift examinations within the first three (3) hours of start-up of all equipment related to the Blending Operation.
• Works with the Quality Control Manager to establish settings for special blends.
• Maintains general observation over Blending Operations to ensure maximum efficiency and capacity.

o Performs periodic walk-around to ensure equipment is functioning properly and reports any problems.
o Makes sure conveyor belts are tracking properly to avoid spills. o Inspects all belts to conveyors for tears or bad splices.

o Makes sure proper lubrication is applied.

• Performs a visual exam of all equipment Yardman will be working in and around before beginning any cleanup.
• Performs ground maintenance, cleaning of lunch rooms, restrooms, Bag House office and around all buildings and offices.
• May be required to operate different types of vehicles and equipment and must be able to understand how each piece of equipment functions.
• Maintains good housekeeping standards.

o Keeps vehicles and tools cleaned and in good condition.

o Keeps trash emptied.

o Cleans up sand spills under equipment and conveyors, in tunnels around conveyors, counter weights and other related equipment around the plant as required.

o Keeps the Blending Area clean.

o Keeps rocks, sticks and sand off platforms and walkways to conveyors and other related equipment to the Drying Operations.

• Makes necessary adjustments and minor repairs.

o Assures blending equipment is in good operating order.

o Works with small water and slurry pumps in flooded areas.

o Recognizes and communicates problems to proper personnel and gives assistance if required.

• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to communicate in English effectively over the radio to supervisors and co-workers as needed and fill out daily reports.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively and tactfully interact with all levels of organizational staff.
• Must be a self-starter with resourcefulness and problem solving abilities.
• Must have a working knowledge of organization policies and practices.

WORK DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT

• Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection hard toed safety boots, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and other personal protective equipment.
• Employee must follow LOTO/block out procedures when working on any powered equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.68 - $23.68 per hour

• Monday to Friday
