Position Purpose/Summary:

This person directly supervises and coordinates the daily activities of production and operations personnel to maintain the flow of production. The Lead Operator reports to the production manager and acts as a front-line extension of the manager's authority. Responsible for ensuring that employees are present, and the work is completed on time. Provides support, direction, and assistance to his subordinates on all areas of their assigned duties. The Lead Operator focuses on supervising employees during his/her shift.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

· Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.

• Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
• Make sure the workplace is safe and clean. Responsible for filling out incident and accident reports and reporting all violations of safety and other policies. They must ensure that the company’s exposure to risk is minimized by following all safety regulations.
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
• Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
• Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers. The shift leader must be proficient at every position within the department.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods.
• Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
• Knowledge of GMP’s and SOP’s
• Plan and establish assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
• If an employee is unable to work, the shift leader is responsible for making sure that the absent employee’s position is covered by another employee.
• Requisition materials, supplies, or repair services.
• Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
• Interpret specifications, order preps, and company policies and procedures for workers.
• Recommend or execute personnel actions, evaluations, and promotions.
• Set up and adjust machines and equipment.
• Works alongside members of their team in order to be more efficient and stay sharp in all job functions allows them to lead by example.
• Position requires an on-duty meal period.

Position Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• AA Degree or equivalent experience
• Forklift Certification
• Good communication skills
• Ability to Multitask
• Must be willing to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Great attention to detail
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 60 pounds.
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is moderate to high.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
