Job Description:

The Grab Ads Technology team is looking for a passionate, driven and collaborative engineer to join us as a Lead Software Engineer in Bellevue, WA.

Get to know the team:

The Ads Serving team is at the core of Grab’s digital advertising business. We design and build distributed systems that make real-time, personalized decisions on each ad request from Grab’s massive user base in Southeast Asia. These micro services and data pipelines handle thousands of requests per second and serve as the foundation for delivering personalized, targeted content to end users. Our team is based in Bellevue and is composed of experienced engineers who have previously worked on highly performant systems operating at scale, and have chosen to bring their skillset to Grab to support our rapidly growing ads business.

Day-to-day activities:

• Design and build microservices and data pipelines to serve personalized ad content

• Collaborate with business, product, data science and engineering stakeholders to ideate and define requirements for new features to grow the GrabAds business

• Take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions, from initial design all the way to launch; managing the execution of complex projects spanning multiple teams and business functions

• Evaluate, compare and adopt new technologies that improve performance and scalability

• Write clean, high quality, well-tested code on a daily basis

• Review code and design proposals from across the organization

• Grow junior engineers through mentorship

• Grow the team by conducting technical interviews

• Write technical design documents, perform data analysis, and present learnings

• Operate, tune and debug systems, adhering to the highest standards of operational excellence

Minimum Requirements :

• Minimum of 5+ years of industry software development experience in large scale distributed systems

• Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and asynchronous architectures

• Proficient in at least 1 widely used backend language, including: Go, C++, Java, etc.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills; able to think critically about growth and stability

• Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, or equivalent

The Nice-to-Haves:

• Hands-on experience with multiple backend languages

• Experience in Ads
