About the Position
As Logistics Engineer you will plan, direct, and monitor all materials planning, inventory control, storage, shipping, and receiving activities that take place in offsite/satellite operational locations. This role will work collaboratively with internal Logistics Leadership as well as hired 3PL services leadership & personnel.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and auditing materials handling procedures; monitoring the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and achieve volume, timeliness, reliability, and safety standards together with Mack and 3PL service providers.

You will oversee the maintenance of inventory control systems that track the status of purchase orders, inventory levels, and production requirements. Interpret inventory requests, production schedules, orders, and other documents. Liaise with functional or operational area managers. Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a positive, collaborative working relationship with Mack's internal and 3PL service organizations.

Main activities and responsibilities for the role:
  • Overall responsibility for delivery, quality, cost, environmental, people, and on-time performance for the department/area.
  • Collaborate, support, and coach teams (3PL and LVO) in an accountable manner for meeting Manufacturing Operations goals and objectives, both driving a positive environment while promoting employees’ ideas and suggestions.
  • Complies with company and 3PL contractual policies, rules of conduct, and regulations including OSHA, safety, environmental, and health, and supports the team in compliance with the same.
  • Review 3PL invoices for accuracy, monitor expected results and performance via KPIs reflected in monthly business review meetings
  • Leading and or supporting lean activities in assigned areas of responsibility, identifying waste, and promoting continuous improvement. Advanced ability to apply various Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Root cause and contain logistics process errors together with the 3PL to ensure uninterrupted material supply to the factory
  • Initiates cross-functional feedback for problem-solving.
  • Ensure SOPs of Mack systems and processes are developed and followed by 3PL providers and support train-the-trainer programs at the 3PL
  • Interfaces with Mack and 3PL management along with other supervisory personnel on issues affecting quality, production, materials, engineering, and product
  • Reviews daily key performance indicators, including but not limited to on-time order fulfillment, pick completion volume, overtime management, and Material Direct Runners, and ensures a closed communication loop between Logistics, 3PL, and Assembly.
  • Provide logistics systems (WMS and MRP) expertise to troubleshoot, train and ensure correct processes and configurations that arise during operations.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skillset
  • Bachelor’s Degree Supply Chain/Operations Management, or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years experience required preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistic Engineering and/or Logistics Project Management in an Industrial or Manufacturing Environment in Automotive or related Industry

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication, planning, organization and visualization/presentation skills
  • Has significant accomplishments managing cost, supply/ demand forecasting, and logistics
  • Greenfield and/or existing factory and process design and implementation experience
  • Familiar with reading prints or layouts generated by programs such as AutoCAD
  • Lean manufacturing concepts and principles
  • Leadership capabilities with the “can do” mindset and strong networking skills
  • A drive to learn, develop, and contribute to the success of the Logistics Team at Mack

  • Exceptional skills in time management and organization with the ability to balance and prioritize matters in a fast-paced and demanding environment
