The Maintenance Technician, E&I serves as a key member of the Maintenance team working collaboratively and proactively on maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues and repair of machinery including electrical and instrumentation, mechanical equipment throughout our Paper Mill, Paper Coater and our Effluent Treatment Plant.
This full-time position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is located at Liberty Paper’s paper mill in Becker, Minnesota.

Required Skills*
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:*

  • Safely and efficiently troubleshoots electrical systems that includes but are not restricted to PLC troubleshooting & repair, drive troubleshooting & repair, and Instrumentation & controls.
  • Builds and troubleshoots Logic and systems and performs electrical circuit troubleshooting & repair.
  • Assists with conduit & wire installation, lighting repair, troubleshooting & repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission and conveyor systems.
  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance during routine and extended outages.
  • Logs and reports issues and provides feedback for long-term machine use/efficiency.
  • Attends onsite training as required by the company.
  • Assists in developing equipment strategies including spare part stocking, PM optimization, and PdM.
  • Communicates with operators while troubleshooting equipment.
  • Support all projects as assigned.

STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must be willing to cover rotating shift including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, and safety policies.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers and leadership teams.
  • Conduct work in a safe manner, in compliance with OSHA, company policies and procedures.

  • Actively participates in facility committees, events and/or meetings (i.e. Community Involvement Team, Environmental and Safety committee, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal technical/trade school training (or applicable/equivalent experience) in Electrical/Instrumentation Technology.
  • Demonstrated Strong electrical and instrumentation proficiency with an aptitude for Mechanical.
  • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience required; Pulp and Paper industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical/blueprint drawings and specification documents.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with great follow-up skills and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong decision-making ability, including the ability to anticipate problems, develop contingency plans and act quickly to resolve issues.
  • Adaptable to changes in business requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relationship Builder – ability to work with all levels within the organization; professionally represents self and LPI to external contacts.
