Cornell University, a nationally ranked Ivy League institution, is looking for two Major Gifts Officer, Arts & Science to join the Alumni Affairs & Development division in Ithaca, NY.

The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest and most academically diverse college at Cornell offering 40 undergraduate majors, 35 graduate fields and boasts a network of over 65,000 alumni.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategically manage the relationships of 90 - 120 prospect household comprised of alumni, parents and friends, with the giving potential of $250K or more.
• Solicit both major and annual fund gifts, for discovery and qualification of major gift prospects, and ensure robust portfolio coverage and donor engagement.
• Develop and manage purposeful relationships with prospects by traveling 50 + days per year to meet with alumni, parents, and friends to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• A strong commitment to Cornell’s values and mission
• Understanding and appreciation of the value of the liberal arts education
• Willingness to travel 50+ days per year, or approximately 25% of a given period
• Personally, make a minimum of 100-120 visits per year, both in person and virtually.
• Encourage and facilitate prospect meetings with other gift officers and strategic partners, such as College and University leadership.
• Comfort with relationship-building in remote environments, including over Zoom
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong listening and relationship building skills
• Results oriented, proactive; Ability to work in a system that emphasizes measurable objectives, including mutually agreed-upon targets for major gifts
• Good judgement and intuition; A high degree of personal integrity and a commitment to values that support Cornell’s mission to foster initiative, integrity, and excellence in an environment of collegiality, civility, and responsible stewardship
• Demonstrated computer competency and ability to learn new operating systems applicable in the Cornell Alumni Affairs and Development Environment

Pay: $94,865.00 - $115,946.00 per year
