Lifepoint Health has an opportunity for a Market AVP and COO of Conemaugh Physician Services, in office, in Johnstown, PA. The Market AVP and COO of Conemaugh Physician Service provides leadership and direction in planning, directing and coordinating both patient and non-patient care activities. Oversees the daily operation and management of the medical practices. Responsibilities include accountability for operational and financial performance/outcomes for the various components of the organization. Provides visionary leadership, strategic direction and administration in the delivery of seamless services to internal and external customers of CPG. In conjunction with the strategic plan and Lifepoint Health Support Center (HSC), provides results-oriented leadership, mission direction, and administration of all activities of CPG to ensure quality, cost-effective health services. Works closely and develops partnerships with the CPG Medical Staff, Management Staff, and selected members of the Board of Directors to further the group strategic initiatives. Oversees activities and duties and provides results-orientated leadership for appropriate primary care groupings in conjunction with the physician leader for that group. Develops and implements plans to maintain cost and improve financial performance for the Group Practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the overall operational aspects of the physician group and strategic plan development and implementation.
  • Responsible for financial performance, budgeting and growth for the practices.
  • Develops a culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability and performance with a shared vision for the future.
  • Directs and implements the physician group’s mission and strategic plan to achieve its strategic and financial goals.
  • Develops and updates organizational design, management and processes for maximum productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Develops the physician recruitment plan each year and ensures the needs of the medical staff development plan.
  • Provides visible and approachable leadership and enhances working relationships among the staff and physicians.
  • Responsible for all physician contracting, compensation, negotiations and onboarding processes for the physician group in conjunction with HSC guidelines.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance market share and financial position through development of partnerships, affiliations, and growth strategies.
  • Represents the clinic in its relationships with the Conemaugh Health System and collaborates with service line leaders to ensure the implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Serves as liaison and channel of communication between the board and physician leadership group, senior leadership team and the physician group, administrative staffs and HSC resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Leadership Responsibilities: Responsible, either personally or through delegation, for the following:

  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department/service staff who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided.
  • Maintains quality control programs as appropriate.
  • Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department/service.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department/service.
  • Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department/service or the organization.
  • Understands, communicates and supports the organization’s compensation philosophy, policies, plans and programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Participates to some degree in each of the following responsibilities:

  • Hires and Transfers – interviews, selects, and provides for training of employees.
  • Layoffs and Recalls – recommends reduction in employee complement and initiates action; notifies employee(s) if conditions meet specific criteria.
  • Promotes and Evaluates – independently evaluates and determines work assignments; evaluates job performance; recognizes performance.
  • Suspends and Discharges – Exercises employee suspensions or discharges.
  • Assigns and Directs – Assigns and schedules; grants overtime.
  • Addresses Grievances – Meets with employees to listen to and resolve employee issues and address grievances.
  • Disciplines – Implements disciplinary action.
  • Exercises Supervisory Authority – Develops and implements department and/or hospital policy; insures all employees are trained in policy; exercises discretion, independent of policy to insure proper function of department or subdepartment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field; MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in physician group practice management.

Moderate overnight travel (up to 25%) by land and/or air.
