MICHAEL BAKER IN ALASKA
Michael Baker’s first office in Alaska opened in 1942. Since then, we have played a key role in some of Alaska’s most renowned infrastructure projects, including groundbreaking projects on the North Slope and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. We continue to focus on cold regions engineering—pipelines, transportation, hydrology, and geotechnical, and specialty professional services, permitting and regulatory compliance, and GIS and LiDAR mapping. Michael Baker’s Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska offices are filled with professionals dedicated to meeting the most demanding and complex challenges. MECHANICAL ENGINEER DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a mid-career mechanical engineer to join our Oil & Gas department. The initial focus of work will be on North Slope pipeline projects and to support overall growth of our oil & gas engineering business. The position will be responsible for managing and executing in plant piping system designs/modifications and pipeline related engineering projects. This position will involve close partnership and coordination with all the departments within the Alaska operation and across the company with an overall goal to serve the oil & gas business. Experience with traditional commercial and industrial building mechanical engineering design is desired for cross over work between the oil and gas and civil/transportation departments.
•Four-year degree (BS in Mechanical Engineering)
- 8 or more years of experience in mechanical engineering with experience in facility piping, pipeline/piping engineering, pipeline maintenance, launcher/receiver design and engineering, pipeline hydraulics, and writing/reviewing material requisitions for mechanical systems, pipelines and piping systems.
- Ability to coordinate/progress engineering design package with minimal direction.
- Experience with the North Slope in plant piping and arctic pipeline design.
- Alaska PE license
- Must demonstrate excellent speaking, oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, clients and public officials.
BENEFICIAL SKILLS
- Experience with modeling software; Bently AutoPIPE (or CAESAR II), RISA, PIPESIM or AFT Suite and AutoCAD
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $ 103,000 - $ 183,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
