What will you do as a Medical Assistant at Easterseals?
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities: Collects patient medical histories and records vital signs. Prepares patients for examination and explains treatment procedures to patients as needed. Gathers and prepares laboratory specimens, and may perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. Disposes contaminated supplies. Instructs patients about medication and special diets, and orders/obtains injectable medications from the onsite pharmacy as directed by a physician. May authorize drug refills as directed by a physician and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care. Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities: Greets patients in a warm and welcoming environment and answers telephones. Updates and files patient medical records. Assists patients with filling out and completing insurance forms. May handle billing and relevant correspondence as needed. Schedules walk-in clinic appointments. Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment, and keeps waiting and examining rooms neat and clean. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care. Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.

What Does Easterseals Need From You?
1. Must possess a Medical Assistant Graduate Certificate from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of
Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or be a
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
2. Be Certified as a Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
3. Certified phlebotomist preferred.
4. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
5. Must possess a knowledge and understanding of co-occurring disorders (mental health & substance abuse); Stages of
Change (The Transtheoretical Model); Phases of Recovery, and Motivational Interviewing.
6. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
7. Ability to work in medical and behavioral health clinics.
