Job Title: Newberry Shipping Specialist

About the Role

The shipping personal shall perform general labored duties; Operating forklift in a safe manner while moving packs throughout the facility, loading & unloading trucks. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Function / Duties

• Communicate effectively and professionally with other employees.
• Move lumber around in a safe and effective manner.
• Load trucks with the correct material according to the order
• Before loading containers, inspect floors for any imperfections that may impact packs being loaded (raised flooring, bolts or screws sticking up, missing floor panels); is there are any imperfections that are visible, pictures are to be taken and supervisor and sales are to be contacted before loading.
• Unload trucks safely and ensure that the shipment order is all accounted for
• Ensure number of packs that are loaded on the truck / container match the packing list.
• Ensure that there are no holes, slashes, gashes, or imperfections are in the tarps or Conestoga (tarps shall be weatherproof, and have no imperfections in them, and must cover the entire load)
• Daily contact with sales, logistic coordinator, shipping specialist, trucking companies, etc.
• Loads shall be ready at least one day in advance (even if lumber is waiting to come off the planer, whatever is available to be put together can be pulled and allocated)
• Containers shall be ready, double banded with export banding (heat-treated blocks if need be) at least one day in advance, ready for pick up.
• Store tools at the end of the shift inside buildings (chainsaw, shovels, brooms, banders ( & accessories)
• Maintain an organized and safe shipping warehouse areas & any room used in the back of the IG warehouse, forklift(s), outside of buildings, back slab, etc.
• Pick up crossers, stray boards, broken boards, trash, stray sticks (broken sticks, broken boards, banding, stray garbage), sweep all areas.
• Ensure that packs are staged in the warehouse(s) neatly, safely, organized, and appropriately (dunnage under the packs line up accordingly to appropriate areas to ensure stack stability and flatness of lumber)
• Perform weekly cleaning duties to maintain warehouse, forklift, outfeed appearance.
• There will be times to either come in early, stay late, or both to ensure the assigned duties are done or to help with organization, truck loading / unloading trucks, pre-work inspections, Pre-work set ups, staging loads.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position: Hours: Full – Time = +40 Hours Per Week (overtime will be needed at times)
