Position Summary:

An OS&D (Over, Short & Damage) Manager is responsible for managing the field OS&D Clerks to ensure their tasks are being handled accurately and timely. OS&D Clerks are responsible for quality control inspections on our freight shipments, including fielding calls about delivery discrepancies and customer issues.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the processes of the department and developing new processes as appropriate:
    • Dock check process and filing
    • Exception reporting for SWAP accounts
    • Researching inactive shipment(s)
  • Assisting in research and follow-up when business levels require it
  • Clearly communicating processes and expectations for performance
  • Compiling and delivering performance reviews/evaluations; delivering corrective action when necessary
  • Monitoring daily and weekly employee productivity
  • Handling escalated issues when necessary
  • Working with terminal leadership to coordinate efforts to resolve OS&D related matters
  • Conducting weekly conference calls to facilitate communication amongst the team and the company to support the efforts of resolving issues timely
  • Providing feedback to Terminal and Corporate Leadership on OS&D related trends and issues
  • Identifying trends with commodities, Customers, terminals, etc. and developing and recommending a plan for improvement
  • Working directly with the Claims Department regarding freight ready for salvage
  • Traveling through the network assessing the effectiveness of the OSD Processes, identifying areas for training opportunity both with the OSD team as well as within the operation and learning the unique details of each operation

To be qualified for this position, you must possess the following:

  • Ability to interface and communicate with all Pyle personnel and Customers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional phone etiquette with the ability to relay sensitive information to Customers regarding the condition and location of their freight
  • Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business and handle the workload
  • Strong computer skills
  • Attention to detail, follow through and organization
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Dock operations experience preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel
