Job description
Responsible for the medical care of LSCC patients by providing comprehensive out-patient primary care. Nurse Practitioners are responsible for upholding the values and mission statement of LSCC and will conduct themselves as senior level, full time professional employees of the organization. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with a multicultural, multilingual patient population.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides examines, diagnoses and treats patients of the age group appropriate to clinic/service line assignment and provider's certification/privileges- Complete medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records system, following LSCC charting policy timelines
- Provide quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC and policies
- All other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director and/or executive leadership
Operations:
Assess and participate in internal quality control audits- Practice in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice Agreement; establish medical diagnoses for patients that are within scope of practice, and order or prescribe legend drugs and medical devices as authorized by LSCC medical leadership and the TX Administrative Code, Examining Board (Title 22), Texas Medical Board (Part 9) under TMB-Physician Assistants Rules 193.2 and 193.6. and under Physician Assistants (Chapter 185).
- Actively engaged in achieving their productivity and quality metrics
- Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required
Compliance:
Perform all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC’s Quality Standards- Fulfill established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels
- Achieve and maintain LSCC Core Clinical Competencies
- Physician’s Assistants will maintain all credentialing and licensing per LSCC policy
- Perform monthly peer audits
- Have monthly meetings with their collaborating supervising physician
- Achieve defined quality metrics
- Maintains competencies, LMS trainings, BLS (AHA) as current
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training- Demonstrates interest in the area of community medicine
- Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community
- Ability to recognize and understand the public health, social, and economic factors which impact the overall health of LSCC patients
- Ability to support LSCC mission and readily serve its patient population
- Maintains a professional manner and appearance that contributes to the professional image presented to individuals within and outside of LSCC.
- Ability to work independently with high level of self-motivation under their collaborating supervising physician
- Ability to work in and support electronic health records environment
- Ability to travel and work from various clinic locations as necessary
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:
Current Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Texas- Physician Assistant Board Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- DEA as required by Service line
- Maintains continuing education as required by licensing and any applicable accrediting boards; maintenance of certification if applicable, and completes additional educational units as required by LSCC (e.g., risk management courses).
Two (2) years’ experience as a Physician Assistant in healthcare clinical setting- Proficiency with EMR system
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are preferred but not required
