Your Role:
As a Packaging Operator 1 at MilliporeSigma, you will stage, fill (manually or semi-automatically), cap, label, and over pack liquid, powder, and lyophilized products per approved packaging specifications. Responsibilities include:
- Clean laboratory glassware and batch tanks
- Complete appropriate packaging documentation per FDA, ISO, and GMP procedures and deliver products to inventory
- Independently set-up and operate automated fill lines
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to semi-automated equipment
- Organize and set-up the filling of large hazardous fills using equipment
- Troubleshoot automated and semi-automated cappers
- Fill hazardous and non-hazardous products in environmentally controlled areas utilizing aseptic techniques
- Transfer bulk material utilizing peristaltic pumps
- Filter bulk material using pumps and in-line filters or vacuum filters
- Manually torque caps with wrenches
- Assist with loading bottles and pack-off during fill line operations
- Follow all quality and safety and quality procedures
- Train operators on semi-automated filling equipment
- Document all equipment used and verify calibration status
- Don, doff, use, and clean PPE
- Be alerted to hazards common to assigned work and take action to correct unsafe situations
- Participate in required safety activities such as training sessions, meetings, and safety inspections
- Develop and assist in the implementation of process improvement ideas
- Comply with the requirements of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001
- Participate in 6S activities. Maintain good housekeeping and audit readiness
Physical Attributes:
- Wear PPE such as hard hats, safety shoes, respirators, safety glasses, gloves, hair nets, beard covers (if applicable), Tyvek suits, shoe covers, and respirator
- Move drums on and off pallets that exceed 70 pounds while wearing PPE
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted & move more than 50 pounds with assistance
- The work area may occasionally be wet, humid abnormally hot or cold
- Sit,stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, or crouch for the entire shift
- Talk, hear, taste and smell
- Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and adjust focus
- Work with and in proximity of hazardous chemicals and human source materials

Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ months chemical weighing experience
- 3+ months experience in ISO/GMP regulated environment
Preferred qualifications:
- College course work in chemistry
- Ability to do basic math-including metrics and conversions
- Knowledge of safety rules, GMP, SOP's, UOP's
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot automated packaging equipment
- Hand-eye coordination
- Written and oral communication skill
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to train others
- Ability to use hand tools
- Ability to use pumps, electronic balances and material handling equipment
